Rack servers are pre-prepared designs that are designed for quick rack mounting. They are kept in special compartments or mounting sockets, secured to each other with screws. All rack servers are divided into 4 types by size, namely 1U, 2U, 4U and the rarest - 8U.
Do not confuse rack servers and tower servers. While the first stand out low-profile case, the tower servers are fixed in an upright position in a separate cabinet. In this way, rack servers can be installed very close to each other, and this makes it easy to consolidate network resources, thereby minimizing the space required. In addition to a more compact installation, rack servers offer easy cabling around the network component.

- Simplicity: It takes a minimum amount of time to add or remove a rack server, as they can simply be moved around on rails. Do not forget that the size of the server has a significant impact on its weight, and too much weight has a negative impact on speed and cooling quality. Finally, it should be noted the possibility of horizontal stacking of servers on one or more racks. In simple words rack servers take up very little space.
- Future expansion: Servers can always be expanded, upgraded or new ones added. In the case of the need for additional servers, this option will be the most convenient and efficient. Particular attention is paid to hot-swapping, which is the work with the devices without directly shutting them down.
- Network resources are consolidated: Each rack server has its own network interface, allowing you to add a network switch to the cabinet without any difficulty. All servers can then be connected to it.
What is included in the structure of rack servers
If you have certain requirements for a rack server, it will take a long time to analyze the market. Every server has its own purpose, i.e. for complex tasks, servers with 4th generation DDR memory are most likely to be suitable. It greatly increases the bandwidth and reduces stress.
